Opportunities exist within the not-for-profit organizations or entrepreneurial environments with some flexibility. In a small to mid-sized organization, the owner often deals with human resource issues, with the support of a Human Resources Assistant. You will also have the opportunity to continue your learning experience by transferring to institutions that offer human resource degrees. You will draw on your paid or volunteer work experience as well as your customer service experience to understand and become more aware of the importance of engaging the workforce in the organization. The demand for knowledge in the area of human resources (HR) is increasing. Graduates of the Human Resources Management Certificate program are qualified to begin their careers in entry-level human resources positions within a variety of business sectors. Not all applicants are guaranteed a Work Experience placement. The application process aligns with the competitive nature of a job search and candidates are responsible for demonstrating a high level of professional and program expectations. Work Experience is offered as an unpaid, non-credit work placement scheduled immediately following the successful completion of all required courses.Īpplicants must meet all eligibility criteria and follow the application process to be accepted into Work Experience.
Work Experience (practicum) offers you the opportunity to use your new skills in the workplace, receive strong mentorship, gain valuable experience, and enjoy networking opportunities. Not all courses are offered every term in-class, or online and they are subject to change. Learning optionsĪll courses are available in-class and online.
Taking less than five courses per term will take longer to complete the program. Students can maintain full time status with at least three courses. A standard course load is five courses per term. This is a one-year (two term) certificate program.
Learners acquire understanding of human resources management practices and trends in recruitment and selection, compensation and benefits, learning and development, change management, occupational health and safety, labour relations and employment law. The program's focus aligns human resources practices with organizational strategies. The Human Resources certificate increases awareness and assesses the application of practical skills to hand-on activities that will be experienced in the human resources (HR) discipline within any sector.
